Our Day Trip to Fort Desoto Dog Beach!

On the weekend of our 1st anniversary, Travis and I had Saturday off together. We decided to take a little day trip (with Nellie) down to Fort Desoto and St. Petersburg. It's less than 2 hours away from Orlando and a really nice, easy drive.

Nellie was psyched about the trip! She loves going for a ride!

Nellie, all set for the beach! Don't worry...we only had this on her for a minute to take the picture....although I will say, she is very good about dressing up. She just doesn't seem to mind, which works out great for me!

Nellie and I just hanging out at the dog beach!

Chilling out with her Dad!

It took Nellie about 2 hours to get up the courage to go in the water. She typically does really well with still water, but she gets nervous about waves. Well, the water was very calm but had tiny, itty bitty waves coming in on the shore. She would get up the courage, make an attempt to go in, and then a wave would come and scare her away. Well, finally I guess she just decided to go for it! She jumped in past the wave and had a blast romping around! It was the cutest thing ever!

Travis and Nellie having fun in the water!!!

Kisses!

My two loves!

Me and my girl!
Having a blast!!!
On a side note, the next day we noticed that Nellie was not wagging her tail at all and was having a little trouble sitting. We took her to the vet and he thought she may have sprained her tail from all of the playing at the beach! Ahhh! But, after a few days of medicine, she was back to her happy wag! I guess she had a little too much fun at the beach!

Nellie loves giving smooches to her Dad!

Some shots of the beach! It was the cutest thing to see all of the dogs just running around and having a fun in the water and in the sand!

Relaxing in the car after all of the fun!

After the beach, we drove into St. Pete to a cute little Italian restaurant called Valentino's! We were allowed to have Nellie sit with us on the outside patio!

Travis enjoying beer!

We decided to share a calzone. This was only HALF of the entire thing!!! It was huuuge! Needless to say, we were able to take home leftovers!

After dinner, we headed down the street to get some ice cream! Yum!
It was a special day, so even Nellie got some!

She was pretty interested in our sundae though!

We ate our ice cream sitting in the hatch of my car.

Family photo! Nellie was still eyeing up that sundae!

But then she realized how deeeeelicous hers was! Mmmm...Frosty Paws!

We really had the best day all together. It was one of those days in life that I'll always remember!

Looks like a great day for all. Seems as if Nellie may take after her Auntie Lehigh who also needs time to get the courage to "jump right in".
